Tipping 101- Who and How Much?

When working on your wedding budget, don't forget to allow room for tipping. Tipping your wedding vendors for a job well done lets them know they provided an excellent service and you appreciate them and their hard work. While not mandatory, tips for wedding vendors are always accepted and appreciated.


Assign the responsibility of handing out tips to your parents, the maid of honor, or your wedding coordinator or venue coordinator.


Below is an outline of different wedding vendors with expected gratuities.


Photographer and/or Videographer

Standard is $50-$200 per photographer and/or videographer.


Bartenders

Standard is 10%-20% of the alcohol bill to be split among the bartenders.


Catering Staff

Standard is 10%-20% of the catering bill, to be spit among catering staff. Read your contract closely, some caterers include gratuities in their contracted fee.


Officiant

Standard is $50-$100 and/or a church donation, up to $200.


Venue Staff/Events Coordinator

Standard is $200-$300.


Hairstylist and Makeup Artist

Standard is 15%-25% of the service cost, depending on the quality of the service.


Floral Delivery

Standard is $10-$20 per delivery person.


Alterations Professional

Standard is $20-$30 but this should greatly depend on the complexity of the alterations.


Transportation

Standard is 15%-20% of the total transportation bill. Read your contract closely, some transportation companies include gratuities in their contracted fee.


DJ or Band

Standard is $50-$150 for DJs or $25-$35 per musician in a band.


Bakery Delivery

Standard is $10-$20 per delivery person.


Wedding Planner

Standard is 10%-20% or the service cost, up tp $500.


Parking Attendants/Greeters

Standard is $1 per car for parking attendants, up to $200.


Additionally, 5-star reviews on The Knot, WeddingWire, Google My Business, and Facebook go a long way to show appreciation as well as sharing your wedding photos.


Wedding vendors are instrumental in the execution of your big day and if they meet or exceed your expectations, you will want to reward them for a job well done.
